Our private chauffeur service will transfer you to Saroche, moored in the heart of the Cote du Beaune at Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune.
Welcome Champagne reception and plenty of time to settle into your cabin before your first meal aboard Saroche.
After breakfast, we will set sail and head down the canal, passing several locks towards the wine village of Santenay. Where we moor up for the day. There are plenty of opportunities to walk or cycle the towpath before lunch on board.
In the afternoon Jason will take you to a local chateau once home to Margarita of Burgundy. Enjoy this medieval home before returning to Saroche to freshen up, have a pre-dinner cocktail and enjoy the countryside from the deck. Dinner tonight aboard Saroche is another gastronomic feast.
This morning, we will visit a local winery. This area is world famous for its white wines, and you will be sure to be impressed with the wines presented to you.
Return to Saroche for lunch on board before a leisurely afternoon cruise towards the wine village of Rully. Mooring up here gives you access to the village and beautiful views over the countryside. Enjoy dinner on Saroche with a chance to stargaze after dinner beside the fire pit.
After breakfast today, we leave Saroche and drive to Beaune. First, we will visit the world-famous Les Hospices du Beaune. Jason will give a private guided tour of this impressive building and its rich historical importance. After the Hospices, we stay in Beaune, and your lunch today is in an excellent yet very small Bistro in the heart of town.
After lunch, we shall head into the cellars of one of the most prestigious winemaking Domains in the world. The cellar master, a personal friend of Jason’s, will wow you with an array of impressive Burgundy wines. Enjoy the gentle drive back to the barge, passing vineyards and world-famous towns as we go. Before dinner tonight, there is plenty of time to walk, cycle, or simply indulge in a book on the deck.
This morning, we set sail and cruise through 10 locks as the barge twists and descends towards the Saône River, mooring up in the village of Fragne.
After lunch, Jason will drive you to the world-famous Clos du Vougeot, home to the legendary Knights of the Round Table of wine tasting! As an inducted member of this world-famous organization, Jason will take great pride in showing you the Abbey, which is steeped in history and tradition and one of the key reasons Burgundian wine is so revered worldwide! Return to Saroche to enjoy a cocktail on deck before dinner is served .
This morning, Jason will take you to an oak barrel maker. The importance of oak in the wine industry cannot be overstated. Here, you will learn and build a barrel to be fully immersed and understand exactly why Oak is so important.
Returning to Saroche for lunch, Jason will set sail and head down the canal, passing the final lock and entering the Saône River. There, you can relax on the deck and enjoy the last afternoon of cruising gently on the river. We moor up in the town of Chalon-sur-Saône, where your Gala dinner will be served.After breakfast, our chauffeur service will transfer you from the barge, leaving you with memories a plenty of a wonderful week in Burgundy aboard Saroche .
Depending on starting point the itinerary may run in the opposite way.
